One of Kosmorama’s primary goals has from the very beginning been to put focus on new talents. That is why the short film competition Årets Kosmonaut (Cosmonaut of the Year) for children and teenagers has been the film festival’s prime contribution in creating a green house environment for young aspiring filmmakers in the region.

Toronto International Filmfestival, September 7th–16th, 2006.
With more than 300,000 visitors, the Toronto International Film Festival is one of the world’s largest festivals in terms of audiences. This is impressive even for a metropolis with 4.5 million people. The festival has become an important meeting place for the international film industry as well, and an effort to nurture this aspect of the festival has become increasingly evident over the last few years.

A small Swiss town no larger than Trondheim a few kilometres from the
Italian border, and they nevertheless have one of Europe¹s largest and most
important film festivals. So size doesn¹t matter after all or perhaps it
matters, but in reverse; most major festivals take place in the smaller
cities of their respective countries.

No other city in the world is as closely associated with movies as Los Angeles. So it seems odd that the City of Angels doesn’t have anything like a defining film festival – instead, a handful of smaller festivals vye for the attention of an audience who by definition is more interested in movies as an industry rather than an art form. Much of this is of course rooted in the city’s notorious geography – while other countries, some of them smaller than Los Angeles, has to deal with the fact that every city seems to have to have their own festival, Los Angeles appears to have a festival for every single neighborhood.

"The Norwegian film industry can hardly do without Kosmorama and the Kanon Award after this," wrote the Adresseavisen daily after last spring's
festival, and went on to conclude that Kosmorama was here to stay. We couldn't agree more. Kosmorama has grown rapidly in its short life so far.
This year's festival's numbers bears this out:
More than 28.000 viewers
A 75 % increase in ticket sales from the previous year
86 movies were screened in all, of whom several received a theatrical release later in the year
Several world premieres
16 seminars and Master Classes
Visits from 13 national and international filmmakers, including Liv Ullmann and Brokeback Mountain-producer James Schamus.
300-plus volunteers.
In typical fashion, we'll be raising the bar even higher for next year's festivities. We aim to celebrate both the art of movies, the people who
make them, and the people who watch them. So welcome back to Trondheim's International Film Festival. April 2007 should be here before you know it!

Kosmorama is looking for resourceful people to join our organization.
The individuals we are looking for have to have natural leadership skills,
be independent and well-organized. In addition, they need to be able to
collaborate and work within a team structure. Experience from similar jobs
is an advantage.
The workload will increase as we get closer to the festival. You must be
prepared to work throughout the festival period.
