A MAN RETURNS from a prison stay and finds his childhood home occupied by a mother and her autistic daughter. They’re refugees from the war in Bosnia – a war the man participated in on the Serbian side. Painful memories emerge, and are explored in a surgical way. The relationship between the three of them expresses the potential for development and hope for the future. Paskaljevic uses symbols in the image composition to aid the character portrayal and to indicate the complexities of the central themes of the film. Paskaljevic, Goran
Goran Paskaljevic (b. 1947, Beograd) studied at Prague´s renowned Film and Television School at the Academy of Performing Arts. His work include over 40 documentaries, short- and long films since his debut in 1970. His film Cuvar plaze u zimskom periodu (Beach guard in winter) won the 1976 Critics Award in Berlin, and since then he has received several awards.
